What inspires me Wednesdays 12

I was inspired recently to find out that the book “Still Alice” which has now been made into a moving motion picture was initially self published.  Yes it is probably less than 1% of self published authors who go on to sign movie rights to their creations but it gives me hope.

If you haven’t seen the movie or read the book do yourself a favour and do so these holidays.  Lisa Genova self published her debut novel in 2007 and 2 years later it was published by a publisher and is now in over 20 languages in over 30 countries.  Fast forward to 2014 and Julianne Moore is lighting up the screen and bringing Lisa’s words to a whole new audience.

Personally I’ve never had any experience with alzheimers however I found myself being drawn to some of the experiences Alice encounters as the disease takes hold due to my own memory difficulties due to chronic pain induced fatigue.  I’m sure alzheimers is a lot worse especially as it progresses, but being able to connect to some of what she was going through felt so poignant.
