I was reminded today while talking to my local librarian about book to movie adaptions about one I wrote a report on in highschool.
The Accidental Tourist is a 1988 American drama film starring William Hurt, Kathleen Turner, and Geena Davis. I can barely remember anything from the story line. What I remember is how close the book and movie are in storyline. I’ve seen so many book to movie adaptations since then. Some have been impressive and some disappointing, some have been easily recognisable while others have been a little more than a vague resemblance.
But even all these years later I remember how close to verbatim The Accidental Tourist movie was to the book. In general though my recommendation has always been watch the movie first, as your imagination can never compare to Hollywood’s.
