Each week this month I will be featuring one of the authors that helped me through my childhood.
Following on from last weeks post Edward Stratemeyer also created the Character of Nancy Drew. Although I didn’t discover this until more recently. Growing up I thought it was Carolyn Keene until I found out that was a ghost name and there was actually many authors writing behind that one collective pseudonym.
Edward Stratemeyer was the original creator of her character.
As soon as I finished reading one book I remember opening the cover of the next book. Sometimes reading a book a night fighting off sleep until I’d finished. There was something about the way she risked the safety of her life to solve the cases that enthralled me. I read every book the library could get me. Along with her friends Bess and George and her boyfriend Ned I couldn’t get enough.
