Tuesday Tunes 001

This could be the start of a new series that is long lived or short lived. If you connect with the songs I share please let me know. I’ve been writing song lyrics a lot lately. Something I haven’t done since childhood. I used to write a lot then too for a time, until my co writer moved away.

I’m working on getting these songs recorded so you can listen to them as songs aren’t written to be read. If you want to be involved in that process please contact me. In the meantime sharing what I have been writing will hopefully help me in my creative journey. It may be breaking some unwritten taboo of not sharing song lyrics until they have been put to music and if that is the case so be it. If any of them connect with you it will have been worth sharing them in their early stage.

The first two I’ve chosen to share with you were both written on the same day. Two very different themes, both from the same heart.

Awaiting His return was penned while listening to a sermon at church. Some take notes, for the past few weeks I’ve been writing lyrics.

Awaiting His return

(Verse 1)
Bathed in God’s love, I feel his presence deep within,
A call from eternity, a sacrificial forgiveness of sin,
The signs are all around, the world in disarray,
But deep inside my heart, I know it’s time to pray.

(Chorus)
I’m ready for the trumpet’s sound, ready for the skies to part,
Ready for my Savior’s grace, ready with an open heart.
I’ll stand firm in faith, to the darkness I won’t turn,
For I know the time is near, Christ’s return, I yearn.

(Verse 2)
The days are growing short, the hourglass runs low,
But I won’t be afraid, there is still much seed to sow.
I’ll walk the narrow path, with hope that never fades,
For Jesus is my guide, in His love I’m saved.

(Chorus)
I’m ready for the trumpet’s sound, ready for the skies to part,
Ready for the Savior’s grace, ready with an open heart.
I’ll stand firm in faith, to the darkness I won’t turn,
For I know the time is near, Christ’s return, I yearn.

(Bridge)
Let the world tremble, let the mountains shake,
In the face of tribulation, my spirit won’t break.
For my soul is anchored deep in His embrace,
And I’ll keep pressing on, till I see His glorious face.

(Verse 3)
As I wait with anticipation, my soul singing free,
I’ll share the hope I found, with those who long for peace.
For the harvest is at hand, the fields are ripe and ready,
To shine His light and love, to a world so dark and heavy.

(Chorus)
I’m ready for the trumpet’s sound, ready for the skies to part,
Ready for the Savior’s grace, ready with an open heart.
I’ll stand firm in faith, to the darkness I won’t turn,
For I know the time is near, Christ’s return, I yearn.

(Outro)
So let us join together, in faith and unity,
Proclaiming Jesus’ name, till all His glory we see.
With hearts prepared and lives ablaze,
We’ll be ready for His coming, in these final days.

Empty captures the emotions of being widowed near the end of a long life. The majority of which was spent with one woman.

Empty

(Verse 1)
I miss your love, a balm upon my lips,
I miss dancing, my hands grasping your hips,
Decades of affection, a story we shared,
But now it’s a memory, a warmth no longer there.

(Chorus)
I miss you so much, my heart can’t contain,
The pain and the grief, flowing through every vein,
Our love, like a symphony, fading away,
But the echoes remain, touching each day.

(Verse 2)
Your touch, once filled with life
My nose now empty of my wife,
Your hair, turned gray, entwined with mine,
Now a vacant space, no more wine.

(Chorus)
I miss you so much, my heart can’t contain,
The pain and the grief, flowing through every vein,
Our love, like a symphony, fading away,
But the echoes remain, touching each day.

(Bridge)
Dusty hangers drape your clothes that I hold,
Silent reminders of stories untold,
The chair you once occupied, now cold and bare,
My hands yearn for yours, but they’re grasping thin air.

(Verse 3)
Our home, once alive, now feels so vast,
But the world outside, it’s shrinking fast,
I miss feeling you purr, hearing your feet on the floor,
Your scent always enticing, forever I’ll adore.

(Chorus)
I miss you so much, my heart can’t contain,
The pain and the grief, flowing through every vein,
Our love, like a symphony, fading away,
But the echoes remain, touching each day.

(Outro)
The nights grow colder, without you near,
But my love for you, it will never disappear,
We made it through the thick and the thin
Despite this pain, forgetting you would feel like sin.

Let me know your favourite line and how many you would like me to share with you next week.
