Tuesday Tunes 002

My second week of sharing song lyrics with you before they have been put to music. If you missed last weeks go back and see where this journey all began.

I’ve chosen two songs to share with you again this time. The were both written this past week. The second one I thought I had written weeks ago, but I couldn’t find it. The thoughts and feelings behind it were still driving around inside me so I either wrote it or rewrote it.

The first one I have for you was inspired by a thought I had while I was watching a movie where an elderly man was wishing to eat his deceased wife’s roast when he rejoined her in heaven I wondered would there be lemon meringue pie in heaven? I’d also heard I can only imagine earlier the same day. Please don’t tell the band Mercy Me that they had anything to do with inspiring this silly song. In all honesty I doubt I’ll have any thought of pie in heaven, but who knows, maybe..

Will There Be Lemon Meringue Pie In Heaven?

(Verse 1)

Will there be lemon meringue pie in heaven?

Amidst streets of gold and fluffy white clouds.

With angels singing, voices lifted high,

A feast of flavours, where love abounds.

(Chorus)

In the presence of the King, joy unrestrained,

Will there be lemon meringue pie in heaven?

Every heart rejoicing, no sorrow or pain,

Will there be lemon meringue pie in heaven?

(Verse 2)

In the banquet halls, tables set with care,

Will there be lemon meringue pie in heaven?

Where hunger’s unknown, and all are aware,

Of the boundless grace that we’ve been given.

(Chorus)

In the presence of the King, joy unrestrained,

Will there be lemon meringue pie in heaven?

Every heart rejoicing, no sorrow or pain,

Will there be lemon meringue pie in heaven?

(Bridge)

Oh, the sweet aroma that fills the air,

In the arms of grace, his love we all share.

With every slice, a taste of sweet delight,

A foretaste of glory, where all is made right.

(Verse 3)

In that timeless place, where tears are erased,

Will there be lemon meringue pie in heaven?

With no more sadness, only gladness and grace,

A place of endless comfort, hope and affection.

(Chorus)

In the presence of the King, joy unrestrained,

Will there be lemon meringue pie in heaven?

Every heart rejoicing, no sorrow or pain,

Will there be lemon meringue pie in heaven?

(Outro)

So, we’ll live each day, with that hope in our sight,

Of a heavenly feast, where all is made right.

And when we finally reach those pearly gates,

Will there be lemon meringue pie? Oh, I can hardly wait.

The second song lyric for you this week speaks of yearning for a love no longer there.

Hands Free

(Verse 1)
She used to put her hands on me, oh so tenderly,
But now she’s driving hands free, a distant memory,
Her touch upon my heart, once a promise to never part,
But now it’s just a faded map, and it tears me apart.

(Chorus)
Where did her love go, chilling like an autumn breeze?
Her touch that soothed my world, now lost among the trees.
She’s driven out of sight, my love a selfless plight,
Oh, I wish she’d turn around, and make everything alright.

(Verse 2)
She used to touch me day and night, a love that felt so right,
But now I can no longer see her, lost in the shadows, unclear,
The road we travelled hand in hand, now feels like sinking sand,
I’m left here with unanswered questions, why she had to disband.

(Chorus)
Where did her love go, chilling like an autumn breeze?
Her touch that soothed my world, now lost among the trees.
She’s driven out of sight, my love a selfless plight,
Oh, I wish she’d turn around, and make everything alright.

(Bridge)
In this silent solitude, memories of her still intrude,
The laughter and the tears, echo through the years,
I hope she knows I’m here, waiting for her to reappear,
With open arms, I’ll hold her near, if she’d just steer back to me.

(Verse 3)
I see her car out on the road, a path where love once obsessed,
But now it’s just an empty ode, a love story that’s been repossessed,
If she could hear me now, I’d ask her why, and show her how,
Together, we could drive forever, with love that’ll never die.

(Chorus)
Where did her love go, chilling like an autumn breeze?
Her touch that soothed my world, now lost among the trees.
She’s driven out of sight, my love a selfless plight,
Oh, I wish she’d turn around, and make everything alright.

(Outro)
I’ll wait for her return, for the day when she will learn,
That love can still ignite, like stars that burn so bright,
And though she’s driven far away, in my heart, she’ll always stay,
With hope that’s here to stay, I’ll wait for her one day.

Let me know your favourite line and how many you would like me to share with you next week.
