What a week..
Sunday morning I was commissioned to create a new tshirt design for someone, sorry that hasn’t happened yet because..
Sunday afternoon I finished “Shredded Tapestry” it took me a lot longer than I would have liked but I eventually got there using my daily allocation of free credits each day. I could have made it in a day by spending money but I’m grateful I could do it without doing so even if it took me much longer. It was finished just in time to submit it to a film festival it is perfect for, hopefully they think so too. After not getting accepted by the film festival I created it for originally I went back and completely redid it.
Which movie poster do you like best?

Couldn’t make it to the Lands End Festival of Film on Sunday night, if you’d love to fund all the expenses for my next film I’d love to hear from you. And first year in they didn’t live stream it so I didn’t find out Sunday night if I won or not. I did however not sleep well so I ended up shooting the footage for another video, more about that one down the track. No news Monday so I’m thinking I didn’t win but was still stoked to be in the top 7 finalists out of 300 animation submissions.
Tuesday morning I’m waking up, checking emails on my phone still in bed I WON!!!

The waterworks started and kept going throughout the day. I was on an online group audio chat when my phone lit up with a number I didn’t know and a name that made me think it could be from the film festival and if it wasn’t just for being in the festival I would have let it go to voicemail. But I took the call and it was Shayne one of the main people who made the festival as awesome as it was for their first year. Kinda wish now that I thought to record it, but it was still cool to chat to him. One thing I remember from the call was him telling me that it wasn’t lost on them that there is a lighthouse in F.O.A. and of all the Sharky trophies the only one with a lighthouse on it is the one for the animation category which I won. In later emails he confirmed this and went on to say that he designed the trophies weeks before I submitted my film. I’ve found a couple more film festivals to submit F.O.A. to. I got an invite from Cannes to submit to this week, it was hard to say no to that one. I could have spent hundreds on submissions this month. If you want to like, share and comment on the Lands End facebook post announcing my win have at it. Oh yeah and it’s going to be rescreened this Sunday night at Monkey Mia if you want to go ๐ or you want to send me ๐ ๐ ๐
Thursday I found out that the local newspaper had posted an article on their website that by Friday was trending in top spot.

I found another film festival to submit Melanie’s Story to.
Friday roles around and while I’m waiting on the phone to ring to chat to Daniel from TR FM and Gippslands Gold for their local news early next week and I get the email saying “He Was Only 16 in 1915” has been selected for Sessions 06 in June, more on that next week. Another film poster to update and limited edition merch to create to try and better fund these projects myself.
I need a nap. And I’m not joking it’s been an awesome week of film news but it doesn’t take away the pain I live through every day. The more I do the worse the pain is so it’s a balancing act but as the news of Kyle Busch’s passing reiterated today you never know how long you have.
